Links to your alternatives
Gatekeepers are those who are actively developing solutions to aid in climate change. These are industry game changers. When we as consumers look to purchase but want to have healthier alternatives, this list is a list I highly recommend. These are industry leaders reinventing the material palette for humankind. From plant-based alternatives to food, clothing, leather these guys are who I find to be our 21st century tech giants. Having an idea is great but bringing it to market is a whole other ballgame. All of us are having to adapt to what that means. I don't believe we should be the one to compromise our health and well-being. This list highlights those I have researched for my own work, and it has now turned into a resource for you. This page will go through some changes in 2023. For now, there are no segments because there are so many alternatives and we would need a database for that. This will act first as a resource list, so you know you have choices. If you find one that is out there and I have not yet included it on the list, please email me so that I can add it. There are Gatekeepers all over the world, but we need more of us to continue advocacy on behalf of the earth and the lives who inhabit it. The list also includes artists, musicians, performance artists, visual artists and many others who are working towards net zero now. If you would like to be added to this list please send me an email with your link and I will be happy to include it.
A film by Louie Schwartzberg on Mycelial Connection WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF fantastic fungi CONNECT WITH NATURE'S INTELLIGENCE We're on a mission to share the beauty and intelligence of nature - starting with the magic and mystery of mushrooms - to protect the planet and create a better future. This film is deeply important to me because it is what inspired the change and direction when I found I could continue to make art despite my disability. It helped me find an alternative, it gave me choices and accessibility and I will be forever grateful.
Ecovative is the mycelium technology company that designs and grows sustainable materials that come straight from nature. ARTIVISM AT SEA: THE VOYAGE OF ARKA KINARI
Come find out what happens when a rogue’s gallery of activists, makers, and artists embark on a terrible idea for the best of reasons: to tour the world on a restored wooden sailing ship-cum-floating stage, circumvent national borders and modern airborne band touring, and find safe passage during the COVID crisis, with the help of government ministers, Islamic scholars, and seafaring villagers.
By design, Lomi combats food waste and reduces greenhouse gas emissions with the touch of a button. Food waste is the single most common material landfilled and incinerated in the United States, comprising 24% and 22% of landfilled and combusted municipal solid waste. And, 50% of the volume of waste that North Americans send to landfills each year is compostable materials.
Composting is a unique solution to climate change because it not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, it also creates healthy soil, sequesters carbon out of the air, and supports plant life.

For years I've focused on gardening with native plants to support our region's pollinators. Every spring and fall I add new host plants for butterfly caterpillars as well as flowers to provide nectar for adult butterflies. Through my art and gardening I hope to educate and inspire suburban home owners to let their lawns go a little wild.
